Course description
This is a job-ready qualification, based on National Occupational Standards (NOS), which will provide the knowledge, understanding and skills required to work competently as a hairdresser. It also provides a sound platform into further training at Level 3 Diploma for Advanced and Creative Hair Professional.
You will learn to be able to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create a variety of looks, and colour and lighten hair for ladies and men. You will be able to work with all hair types ranging from straight hair to very curly, wiry hair. You will also be able to carry out consultations with clients, demonstrate the professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills and safe working practices associated with your role and be able to work without supervision to a high level of precision, with exceptional client care skills.
Taught by IBHA's excellent tutors, and with the support of your salon mentor in a real working environment, you will obtain a high degree of commerciality and skills which will increase your employability. Students of this course can to go on to further study in hairdressing.
Entry requirements
Applicants need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week within a hair salon and must be 16 or over. We work with a number of employers within the industry and can help you to find a placement if required. On application you will be invited for an interview.
